In 1903, The Savoy Grill dining room opened, with an exclusive Men's Grill that did not serve women. That restriction was soon changed. In the early years, The Savoy's clientele dined on such delicacies as prairie chicken and buffalo steak. After the dinner hour, tables were pushed aside for music and dancing late into the evening.
Over the years, The Hotel Savoy's most enduring feature has been The Savoy Grill restaurant. Dating from 1903, it is the oldest restaurant in Kansas City, with stained glass windows, high beamed ceilings, lanterns that were once gaslights, and an enormous carved oak bar. Booth No. 4, known as the presidents' booth, has been host to Warren Harding, Harry S. Truman, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan.

The Golden Ox Restaurant opened it's doors in May of 1949. The restaurant's purpose was simply to furnish a good place to dine for the ranchers, farmers, and their wives who brought their livestock to the stockyards, featuring the then and now World-famous Kansas City Steak.
The restaurant's roots go all the way back to 1871 when the first independent stock yard was organized and facilities erected in the Kansas City west bottoms on the east bank of the Kaw river. The first exchange building was only twenty-four feet square. This area had always been a trading center, dating back to the days when trappers, hunters, and Indians came to trade furs, livestock, grains, and other valuable commodities. Over the years the stock yards grew rapidly as the remaining frontier was opened and settled. At one time over 1.8 million cattle per year passed through the Kansas City stockyards.

Located at 10th & Broadway in the historic Fitzpatrick Saloon building where a prohibition-era Speakeasy once occupied the basement, the Majestic Steakhouse offers two Kansas City originals - jazz and steaks.
The old Fitzpatrick building was originally a saloon and bordello build in 1911. During the liquor probation of the 1930’s the basement was used as a speakeasy and meeting place for Kansas City’s business and political leaders.
